Tools - Recipient Menu

The Tools menu, in particular, contains a variety of management tools that enable you to easily carry out many otherwise difficult tasks. For example, removing all 1099-MISC recipients who earned less than $600 in Nonemployee compensation, or, recomputing Social Security and Medicare wages and withholding for all employees, or, printing all W-2 forms for a specific reporting state, just to name a few.

The first step in completing many of the tasks you encounter will generally involve a global manipulation of a form's control indicators. Control indicators, which are displayed along the top edge of each form's user interface, are defined below.

groupControl Indicators

bullet_boxVOID If checked, Account Ability skips the form during all processing. Void forms are similar to deleted forms that have not been removed from the database. The VOID indicator is specific only to Account Ability and cannot be used to void returns previously sent to recipients, IRS, or SSA.

bullet_boxEfile If checked, the form will be included in the next electronic transmittal file you create. The Efile indicator applies to electronic filers only and can be ignored by plain paper filers.

bullet_boxPrinted If checked, the form is considered already printed and is not printed during the next print session.

bullet_boxCORR-G Forms 1098, 1099, 3921, 3922, 5498, W-2G If checked, the form is either a 1-Transaction correction or the IDENTIFYING transaction of a 2-Transaction correction.

bullet_boxCORR-C Forms 1098, 1099, 3921, 3922, 5498, W-2G If checked, the form is the CORRECTING transaction of a 2-Transaction correction.

note Note

1-Transaction and 2-Transaction corrections are defined in the chapter Correcting Information Returns.

bullet_box1096 Forms 1098, 1099, 3921, 3922, 5498, W-2G If checked, the form is included in the next 1096 transmittal you print. This indicator applies to plain paper filers only and can be ignored by electronic filers.

bullet_box1094 Forms 1095-B, 1095-C If checked, the form is included in the next 1094 transmittal you print. This indicator applies to plain paper filers only and can be ignored by electronic filers.

bullet_boxW-3 Form W-2 If checked, the form is included in the next W-3 transmittal you print. This indicator applies to plain paper filers only and can be ignored by electronic filers.

bullet_boxW-3C Form W-2C If checked, the form is included in the next W-3C transmittal you print. This indicator applies to plain paper filers only and can be ignored by electronic filers.

Control indicators are essential to how Account Ability processes a client's forms.
